Obituary

Robert “Bob” Jones, 74, of Higbee, Missouri, stepped into eternal peace, March 20, 2024.  Born to Leo Edgar Jones and Dorothy (Lund) Jones, August 13, 1949, in Hannibal, Missouri, Bob grew into a man of devout faith and unwavering commitment to his family, agriculture, and country.

Bob’s legacy is honored and carried on by his loving mother, Dorothy Jones; his cherished sons, Robert (Stephanie) and Thomas (Stephanie) Jones; his treasured grandchildren James, Jones, Raina (Garrett Nauerth), Levi (Casey) Jones, Anna Jones, and Bryson Jones;  his doting great-grandchildren Avah, Aurora, Beau, Paisleigh, Jayce, and Easton Jones; and siblings William (Cindy) Jones, Harold, John, Eugene, Glen (Darlene) Jones, LouAnn (Donald Stathem), Judy Pennington, and Darwin (Cathy) Jones.  He joins in Heaven his dear wife Carmen Daina Jones (Williams); his father Leo; his sister Betty Mae; brothers Ronald, Gerald, and a precious great grandson, Luke Robert Jones.

After graduating from LaBelle High School and attending the School of The Ozarks, Bob answered the call of duty, valiantly serving his nation as a U.S. Army soldier in Vietnam, prior to his Honorable discharge.  His civilian service was equally commendable, characterized by his work as a farmer, a correction officer for the State of Missouri, and an inventory clerk for the University of Missouri Veterinary School.

Bob’s firm belief in God anchored him as a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Hallsville, MO, where he found great solace and community.  His passions included the thrill of sulky racing, horse training and guiding upland bird hunts.  He found serenity in hunting, fishing, and trail riding, his love of literature fueling his knowledge and conversation.
